What Macy's Announced for the 2026 Holiday Season

Macy's, Inc. laid out its plans in a September 24 holiday hiring announcement. It is filling seasonal jobs at Macy's, Bloomingdale's and Bluemercury stores and select supply chain sites, with in-person hiring days on September 24, October 22 and November 19. Store roles are part-time.

Here's the straight version. Macy's named its top hiring markets for each brand this year, and Washington isn't on any of those lists. The hiring days still run at stores nationwide, and Macy's hasn't put out a headcount for the District.

🏆 Bluemercury Started in Georgetown

There's a hometown story here. Bluemercury was founded in Georgetown in 1999, when Marla Malcolm Beck and Barry Beck took over two small beauty boutiques in Georgetown and Dupont Circle and rebuilt them under a new name. Macy's bought the chain in 2015, and its three District shops are part of the October 22 hiring day.

If you like skincare and makeup and can talk to customers about what they're buying, it's worth a stop.

Metro Center. The Macy's store sits at 12th and G Streets NW, right above the Metro Center station where the Red, Orange, Blue and Silver lines meet. It's the easiest commute in the region.

Dupont Circle. The Connecticut Avenue shop is a short walk north of the circle and the Dupont Circle Red Line stop.
